Our courses are designed for study online and at a distance, so you can continue your education without giving up personal, family, career, or community commitments. With more than 850 courses, there's something tailor-made for you.

Transfer Credit

Many Canadian post-secondaries have transfer agreements with Athabasca University that grant credit for most of our courses.

AU is the ideal way to pursue your post-secondary education without having to uproot your life. You are not required to be online at a specific time to complete course assignments. You can take your course work anywhere you happen to be in the world!

AU undergraduate courses start on the first day of each month (with cut-off every 10th of the month).

This offers you the flexibility to start courses on your own schedule and when you are ready.

Open Admissions

Becoming an AU student is easy – our open admission policy means if you are 16 or older, you will be accepted as a student, though certain courses, programs and all graduate programs require prior education to enrol. Paying a one-time application fee lets you register for any of our direct-entry courses.

Athabasca University, CANADA'S OPEN UNIVERSITY, is an internationally recognized leader in online and distance learning. We're a government-funded post-secondary institution and one of four public comprehensive universities in Alberta.
